Situated high above Lake Bohinj, rests snowboarding paradise in the resort of Vogel. When it comes to Eastern Europe slopes, this one has to be one of the top tier mountains there is. For further information, please enjoy our brief overview of these Alps.
For riders that like natural on-pistes with a mixture of off-piste ones and terrain parks, Vogel really has it all. In addition, don’t be scared of the chairlifts because they happen to be some of the oldest ones in the area. Nonetheless, when you get to the peak of the mountain (the eagle’s nest), you will really appreciate Slovenia’s scenic horizons over their voluminous mountains. Freestyle riders will appreciate the mountains natural beauty, especially with all of the natural hits and forested runs that serve as a snowy playground.
For those that are looking for some off-piste thrills, well please be careful when doing so because the mountain is more challenging then it seems. This being said, there are suitable runs for all levels of riders. Consequentially, for park junkies, they will be glad to know that Vogel’s terrain park beholds massive jumps. Be sure to wear a helmet and if you are visiting, purchase some travel insurance because you really never know. Sorry if we sound a bit too maternal, but really Vogel jumps are huge.
For the most part, the village is rather basic and just has a small bar, a few shops and some accommodation. This is not a village that can compare with Whistler Blackcomb, but it does get the job done for providing adequate direction on how to get to the mountain. On the other hand, if you are looking for a less crowded mountain that is family friendly, then Vogel is a prime choice.
